BAHAWALPUR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Park in Bahawalpur — Pakistan’s first ever 100MW solar power generation plant.
Work on the Rs 15 billion solar power plant, which is spread over 500 acres, was completed in 11 months with the Chinese government bearing the costs.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister also inaugurated a commemorative stamp issued by the Pakistan Post.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Acting Governor Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong also attended the inauguration ceremony.
