PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution against the May 1 speech of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain.
The resolution declared Hussain’s speech as inflammatory and an insult to the nation, demanding the Federal Government to lodge a treason case against the MQM chief under Article 6 of the Constitution.
The resolution against him was presented to the KP Assembly by the MPAs Shah Farman, Inayatullah Khan and Anisa Zaib.
“The government should take notice of Altaf Hussain’s provocative statement in connection with the national institutions and sensitive national issues,” the resolution said.
The MPAs also took a dig at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for ‘his cautious reaction’ towards Hussain’s statement and termed it a cause for concern.
“It is the responsibility of the federal government to take strict notice of Altaf Hussain’s statement and lodge a case against him,” the resolution asserted.
