QUETTA: The extension given to Saulat Mirza for his execution is expiring today (Thursday) and it is expected a new death warrant will be issued.
Sources at the Machh Jail said that a letter had been written to the anti-terrorism-court in Karachi for a new death warrant. A new execution date for Mirza will be set after the death warrant is received.
Saulat Mirza was scheduled to be executed on 19 March but the death row inmate in a video made startling revelations regarding the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and appealed for a delay in his execution.
He received a stay in his execution for 72 hours by the president which was later extended till April 30. During this time a joint investigation team formed to probe Mirza’s allegations visited him at the Machh Jail.
