ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday decided to take the support of Army personnel during local government elections in Cantonment boards across Pakistan.
In a statement issued today, the ECP said that army soldiers would be deployed at all polling stations on polling day.
Local bodies’ polls are scheduled to take place at 42 cantonment boards across the country on Saturday, April 25.
Elections to the cantonment boards are being held under the Cantonment Local Government (Election) Rules, 2015 framed under the Cantonments Act, 1924.
A total of 2 million registered voters will exercise their right to elect representatives for their respective local governments.
