PESHAWAR: A fully functional and operating kebab shop was exposed by Geo News on Monday at Central Jail Peshawar, which was then immediately shut down by jail authorities.
The Peshawar Police sent a letter to the Interior Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkwa to take notice of how a kebab shop managed to establish and operate at the most sensitive jail of the province, which also managed to have a good number of regular customers.
The shop was run by two people who also kept safe visitors’ mobile phones with them while they visited inmates in prison.
It was requested in the letter to the Secretary that in the present circumstances of insecurity the shop should not be allowed to operate in order to avoid any untoward situation. It was also advised that visitors should leave their mobile phones at home before making a visit to the jail.
