KARACHI: Former Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) MNA, Nabil Gabol Thursday disclosed that it took him by surprise when he ended up securing 140,000 votes from NA-246 constituency in the general elections of 2013.
“I was surprised to find out after the election that I had grabbed 140,000 votes,” Nabil Gabol said during his interview in Geo News program “Aaj Shahzaib Khanzada Kay Saath”.
Gabol went on to say that the polling booths on election day were empty, while 'thumb impressions were still being put inside'.
He added that, "I was told to go home and rest as I have already won."
He said rigging was carried out in NA-246 and several other constituencies of Karachi. “Elections in Punjab were also tainted with rigging,” he claimed.
Gabol said MQM leader Anis Qaimkhani had assured him that he would easily get more than 140,000 votes in NA-246 election contest.
