Pakistan on Friday commemorated 218th death anniversary of 18th century ruler Tipu Sultan.

A tweet on the Government of Pakistan's official handle describes Tipu as an important and influential historical figure who has been lionized as a first freedom fighter because of his steadfast resistance against the British colonialism.
Popularly known as Tiger of Mysore, Tipu Sultan fought against the British and died in 1799 at the age of 48, while defending Srirangapatna.
