KARACHI: A large number of Jamaat-e-Islami activists staged sit-ins at Shahra e-Faisal, Malir and Orangi Town over prolonged power outages and water crises in Karachi on Friday.
JI protesters gathered at Shara-e-Faisal, Malir, North Karachi, Lyari, Orangi Town and other parts of the metropolis to stage sit-ins against K-Electric and federal government. They reportedly blocked Shahra-e-Faisal, M.A Jinnah Road and other busy arteries of the city, creating problems to the commuters.
JI city chief has given a strike call for today in Karachi over prolonged and unannounced load-shedding and water crisis being faced by Karachiites.
While, K-Electric, the power distribution company in Karachi, claimed that 500MW power shortfall is being experienced due to inadequate gas supply.
