The first plane of the Pakistan International Airlines on Saturday landed at the Islamabad's new international airport as part of excessive to assess the the preparations for the formal inauguration of the facility on April 20.
PIA 's A320 aircraf was due to take off from Benazir Interantional Airport at 12:30 PM and land at NIIA at 1:00 PM.
The old Benazir Bhutto International Airport will be transferred to the new airport between April 19 and April 20.
It will be the biggest international airport of the country in terms of landing and passenger handling facilities.
The national carrier has also decided to re-design its logo and portrait of Markhor will be painted on the PIA aircraft.
On Friday, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan inaugurated a new livery of PakistanInternational Airlines (PIA) in Islamabad.
Decision to re-design the airline’s logo was made in view of the new Islamabad airport inauguration, PIA spokesperson Mashhood told Daily Jang.
German Ambassador Martin Kobler took to Twitter and praised the new design featuring Markhor .
In hi tweet he also urged Lufthansa, the largest German airline, to resume its flights to Pakistan.
