HYDERABAD: At least five children and a woman drowned as a boat carrying 20 persons capsized near Nawabshah bypass road on Thursday.
Senior official has confirmed six deaths, saying the boatman Naveed Solangi had been taken into custody.
According to details, the boat overturned in an artificial lake which was built illegally for amusement purposes.
Meanwhile, members of the aggrieved family said that no divers or swim jackets were available at the site. adding that if the rescuers were there, children could have been saved. While the police divers rushed the site and pulled out the bodies .
The deceased were identified as Kashish, Aijaz, Komal, Siddiq, Shahnaz and Hasnain.
