ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court on Monday ordered Islamabad police to arrest Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah leaders Khadim Hussain Rizvi and Pir Afzal Qadri in Faizabad sit-in case.
ATC Judge Shah Arjumand heard the Faizabad sit-in case. The court expressed displeasure over failure of police to submit chalan in the case.
After the accused failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons, the judge issued arrest warrants and directed the police officials present there to bring them and submit challan by April 04.
Workers of a religious party had protested against the government at the Faizabad Interchange of Islamabad for around three weeks in November last year, bringing the capital to a standstill.
The religious party had protested against an amendment in the elections bill, which was later reversed by the government, and ended its protest after an agreement was reached with the government, which included the resignation of Law Minister Zahid Hamid.
Rizvi, along with other leaders, Maulana Afzal Qadri, Maulana Inayat and Sheikh Izhar were also declared as absconders by the court.
