KARACHI: Students of Dawood Public School organized a fund-raising event, called the DPS Festival of Lights in order to create awareness and raise funds for Bait-ul-Sukoon Cancer Hospital.
Students, teachers and parents participated in the Festival of Lights where various fun activities including parades, were organized to inculcate a sense of community-spirit among the students and to raise funds for the free-serving cancer hospital.
The various activities were designed to get children of all age groups involved in the social spirit.
The activities included Dawood Hercules Light Parade, where groups of little girls put on a show in glittering costumes. There was a Tron Dance, Fire Eaters Show, food, games and exciting rides to engage the visitors. A ‘walk through the stars’ tunnel and an oriental lantern ‘China Town’ was also part of the attractions of the event.
Expressing her view, a teacher said, “Having students take the lead in setting up activities and stalls enables them to rise up to their potential and build upon essential life skills of empathy and community-building.”
Many visitors also participated in the Blood Donation Drive.
