Traffic on an active Thailand motorway came to a halt after a wandering elephant decided to munch on some sugarcane in the middle of the road.
In Thailand’s city of Chachoengsao, the emergence of a male elephant out of the woods brought 12 passing vehicles to a standstill for two hours, in search of food. The starving elephant soon discovered sugarcane at the back of a truck after carefully examining all cars, and decided to dig right in, on the motorway.
Bystander, Arnie Banpho, in conversation with local media said: “He was a big elephant so nobody was brave enough to get near him and push him back into the trees.”
The head of the Wild Elephant Care at the Khao Ang Rue Nai mountains, Kovit Boonphanuk also stated regarding the matter that "The elephants in this area are friendly and never harm anyone. He only wanted some food.”
Posted by an onlooker, the footage of the wandering elephant has racked up thousands of views online.
