KARACHI: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali has claimed that law and order situation has improved and targeted killing is brought to point ‘Zero’ in Karachi.
Addressing a cheque distribution ceremony among the families of martyred police personnel at CPO office here Tuesday, Jamali claimed, “Law and order situation in Karachi has improved and targeted killing is brought under control.”
He further claimed that the issue of extortion is also under control in the port city.
The police chief asserted that cases of kidnapping for ransom in Sindh have also decreased, adding that whatever police are doing it is in the interest of common masses.
He said they wanted to end ‘Thana culture’ in the province and for that if community policing is to be adopted it will be done so.
IG Ghulam Haider Jamali announced that Sindh police will get salaries equal to that of their Punjab counterparts from March 31 besides their dues from January to March.
During the ceremony cheque of Rs 2 million apiece was distributed among the families of 23 martyred policemen while cheques of Rs20 were distributed among police officials for their best performance in 44 cases.
