US urges Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorists

During his speech shortly after White House released national security strategy, US president Donald Trump on Monday urged Pakistan to take decisive action in battling extremism and terrorism.

WASHINGTON: During his speech shortly after White House released national security strategy, US president Donald Trump on Monday urged Pakistan to take decisive action against  the terrorist groups "operating on its territory".

On the occasion, Trump said that US desires to continue its partnership and better relationship with Pakistan, urging the country to take decisive action against the terrorist groups "operating on its territory". He added that such a move will improve stability in the region.

Seeking Pak help in battling extremism and terrorism, Trump said that US pays a massive amount to Pakistan for this cause (fighting against terrorism).

"US pays  a massive amount every year  to Pakistan, they have to help", Said Trump.

Trump on Monday unveiled a new US national security strategy that takes a hard line on China and Russia, but he said Washington would seek a "great partnership" with the two world powers while defending its national interests.

Trump said "realism" and "America first" would be a guiding national-security principles going forward and sharply criticized the record of his predecessors on a broad range of issues, including counterterrorism, Iran, and North Korea.
