KARACHI: Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) will launch a grand operation to remove encroachments from over 20,000 plots, including amenity land on Tuesday.
The KMC’s Anti Encroachment Task Force will carry out the operation during which Rangers and police teams will also be present to deal with any possible untoward incident.
Sources said that marriage halls built on amenity plots would be demolished in the first phase. In this connection, a notice has been dispatched to the deputy commissioner West, Rangers, police and other departments concerned.
Meanwhile, the Karachi Development Authority’s (KDA) anti-encroachment department, acting on the Supreme Court orders, razed over 10,000 structures, including marriage halls constructed on amenity land in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nipa Chowrangi, Gulistan-e-Johar and FB Area.
Last month, the Supreme Court had directed the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) to remove encroachments from around 35,000 amenity plots in the city within two months.
