Jahangir Tareen vows to keep working for Naya Pakistan after disqualification
ISLAMABAD: Shortly after disqualification by Supreme Court, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen has vowed to keep working for a Naya Pakistan.
In a twitter message, Jahangir Tareen said, “I worked sincerely with all my strength for the betterment of PTI and Pakistan. I am proud that all allegations of financial wrongdoing were thrown out.”
Tareen maintained, “I will continue to stand tall and keep working for a Naya Pakistan.”
Earlier, PTI Spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said that Jahangir Tareen would continue to serve as Secretary General of the party despite disqualification by the apex court.
PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi had sought disqualification of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Secretary-General Jehangir Tareen for non-disclosure of their assets and ownership of offshore companies abroad.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umer Ata Bandial and Justice Faisal Arab announced the much-awaited judgment.
Declaring Jahangir Khan Tareen disqualified for life, the Supreme Court said in its judgment that the respondent could not be declared an honest person because he used suspicious terms in his statements.
The court asked the Election Commission to issue notification to disqualify Jahangir Khan Tareen.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said the decision against Tareen was given on technical grounds and he could file a review petition to challenge his disqualification .
