DETROIT: After a failed attempt on Sunday, Detroit's Pontiac Silverdome stadium was successfully imploded in second attempt.
The Silverdome's upper ring and a 20-feet steel band that supported the stadium's roof were supposed to be brought down by a series of detonations on Sunday.
A second set of explosives were placed on the vertical beams surrounding the Silverdome Monday. As seen That implosion attempt was a success.
The Silverdome was the home of the Detroit Lions from 1975 to 2001 and the Detroit Pistons from 1978 to 1988.
