ISLAMABAD: Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has asserted that they would not save former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his party again.
Zardari was addressing public rally at Islamabad’s Parade ground to commemorate the party’s Golden Jubilee Founding Day celebrations.
The former president said, “We saved Nawaz Sharif twice in the past but will not save him and his party again in future.”
He went onto say PPP saved Nawaz Sharif’s government twice and once protected him from ‘fake Khan’ bogus mandate.
“We will fight with Nawaz Sharif and bring our own democracy to the country,” Zardari vowed.
Zardari said, “I used to say dictators they don’t have any future here. Musharraf left Pakistan when he saw his dark future.” “Now whatever will unfold in the future, will be on the basis of vote of public,” he remarked.
Pakistan Peoples Party had always been at the forefront to defend democracy whenever dictatorship was imposed in the country, he said.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also addressed the rally. He said his grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and his party laid the foundation stone of democracy in the country.
Bilawal congratulated those who have laid the basis of Pakistan Peoples Party and stood against the dictatorship.
“People are centre of power in Pakistan,” Bilawal said and asserted and only democracy could strengthen Pakistan.
