Bahria University awards 905 degrees at its 14th Convocation

Bahria University Karachi conferred 905 degrees to postgraduate, graduate and undergraduate students in its 14th Convocation 2017 held at its campus on Sunday

Karachi: Bahria University Karachi conferred 905 degrees to postgraduate, graduate and undergraduate students in its 14th Convocation 2017 held at Maritime  Museum on Sunday.

The degrees were awarded to students from the fields of Management Sciences, Professional Psychology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Earth and Environmental Sciences and Media Studies. The chief guest for the event, Dr. Atta Ur Rehman awarded 37 gold and 27 silver medals to students who qualified with distinction in their respective programs.

Addressing the audience, Dr. Atta Ur Rehman motivated the students to strive for more and take part in research studies. "Youth is the driving force behind every nation and Pakistan is among those few countries that have the largest proportion of youth in its population."

"It is the duty of every individual to give back to the society and help it grow." He urged the students to do something worthwhile and change what they believe is wrong. " If you don't like something, change it with your pen, hands, or heart. Use your knowledge to spread peace and joy."

Students who received gold medals included Bushra Tausif for her M.Phil in Clinical Psychology, Ammarah Khalid for MS in Software Engineering, Insia Shabbir for BS in Computer Science, Munazzah Bibi for MBA in Health Management, Rubbiya Quddus and  Qoonj Altaf for BS in Media Studies among 37 other medalists.

Students who received silver medals included Mahnoor Sheikh for MS in Clinical Psychology, Ahsan Lai Khan for MS in Software Engineering, Tooba Mehtab for MS in Computer Sciences, Sidra Akhter for MBA, Ahsan Rashid Khan for MS in Electrical Engineering, Aisha Arshad and Zainab Benazir for BS in Media Studies.

Rector BU Vice Admiral (R) Tanveer Faiz congratulated the students and shared how the newly introduced PhD in Computer Engineering, MS in Media Studies and Bachelor in English Literature and Linguistics programs are aimed at making the world leaders of tomorrow. He further elaborated that the state-of-the-art laboratories, highly qualified faculty and job placements in leading organisations are what ensure a prosperous future for Bahria graduates.

The convocation was attended by a large number of businessmen, organisational heads, faculty members, students and their parents.
