Ex-MQM leader Saleem Shehzad announces to form new political party
KARACHI: Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Saleem Shehzad has announced to found a new political party , more than a year after his former party faced a government crackdown following Altaf Hussain's anti-state speech that led to attacks on media and violence in Karachi.
Speaking to media at City Court, Shehzad said he would contest the next general election from Orangi Town and would field candidates in other constituencies .
"Our doors are opened for all. I will hold a rally in Orangi Town on December 16" said he.
"Our party will have no room for target killers and those involved in China-cutting," he added.
He is the second leader of the MQM who announced to found a new political party after former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal form the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) last year.
MQM's Pakistan chapter led by senior parliamentarian Farooq Sattar has also distanced itself from party supremo after his inflammatory speeches .
