CPEC to play key role in country’s progress: Abbasi
KARACHI: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Wednesday that the China-Pakistan Economic Corriodor (CPEC) would play a key role in the country’s development.
KARACHI: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Wednesday that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would play a key role in the country’s development.
The prime minister stated this while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a coal power plant set up under the CPEC at Port Qasim.
He said that the coal power plant was the first to be completed under the ongoing CPEC project.
The first unit of the power plant would add 660 megwatts to the national grid while after completion the two units would generate a total of 1320MW.
The prime minister said that the second unit of the power plant would be inaugurated in February next year.
Abbasi termed the inauguration of the power plant as another milestone in the history of Pak-China relations.
He said that various projects worth billions of rupees were being carried out in Gwadar.
Earlier, the prime minister arrived in Karachi on one day visit.
He would also chair a meeting on law and order at the Governor House.
