KARACHI: A 30-member Chinese delegation on Thursday met Sindh Minister for Transport Syed Nasir Hussain Shah to discuss the revival of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project.
As per details issued in a press release, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the groundbreaking of the KCR project is likely to be held on December 25, adding that all necessary security measures would be ensured for the safety of the visiting Chinese nationals w.
Meanwhile, the secretary transport and Mass Transit Saeed Ahmed Awan apprised the Chinese delegation about the progress, modalities and other efforts and work regarding the design and other initiatives taken by the Sindh government for the revival of the KCR.
Saeed Ahmed Awan said that major problem relating to the KCR was encroachment and the provision of alternate places to the people who would be affected by the project.
The Chinese delegation was led by Chinese Consul General Wang Yu, comprising representatives of several companies.
It is worth mentioning here that after the inclusion of Karachi Circular Railway in the list of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, the residents who have been living on the encroached land are in a fix about their fate.
