Faizabad sit-in: Authorities evolve strategy to disburse protesters

The law enforcement agencies and administration have stepped up to block the roads leading to Faizabad in order to bar more people from joining the sit-in.

ISLAMABAD: The law enforcement agencies and administration have stepped up to block the roads leading to Faizabad in order to bar more people from joining the sit-in. The decision in this regard was taken on Thursday in a high-level meeting attended by the administrative authorities of the twin cities.

According to details, the administrative authorities of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have evolved the strategy to disperse the protester, who have been staging sit-in at Faizabad interchange for 18 days.

Following the Supreme Court'order to cut the supply line of Faizabad sit-in, additional barriers were placed on the already blocked Murree Road. Moreover, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was also ordered to switch off street lights on the Faizabad bridge.

 Earlier on Wednesday, Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor had said that the army would act upon whatever decision the government takes on the ongoing Faizabad sit-in.

It is to mention here that routine life in  Islamabad has been disrupted by protesters belonging to religious parties, including the Tehreek-i-Khatm-i-Nabuwwat, Tehreek-i-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLY) and the Sunni Tehreek Pakistan (ST), demanding the sacking of Law Minister Zahid Hamid.
