MULTAN: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahabaz Sahrif has ordered termination of four police officials on subjecting elderly couple to inhuman torture and ordered establishment of Multan Development Authority’s guilty officials responsible for using delaying tactics in providing justice to the couple.

The Chief Minister called the couple in his office for personal hearing on Thursday. He ordered termination of area DSP, Chyllyak police SHO, sub inspector and ASI from services, officials said. The Chief Minister said that police involved in physical torture on elderly couple have no right to continue in their offices.

It is worthy to mention that terminated DSP Hassan Abbas Khakhi was neither present at the spot nor he was in the town on that day.

The Chief Minister expressed his sadness over the police violence and personally heard the whole tale and ordeal faced by elderly couple.

The Chief Minister ordered submission of inquiry report in seven days to establish MDA officials responsible for delay in providing justice to elderly couple.

Earlier talking to The News victim’s son Shabir Sindhu said that they just want back their residential and agriculture piece of land, acquired by Multan Development Authority to establish a residential colony and accommodate influential people in term of saving their agriculture piece of lands.

Police subjected inhuman torture on elderly couple Muhammad Idrees Sindhu and his wife Nasim Bibi when they were protesting in front of Multan Development Authority offices on November 20.

Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sahrif suspended area DSP, SHO police and sent Chief Ministers’ Inquiry Team to probe the matter. The Chief Minister summoned Muhammad Idrees, his wife and daughter Madhea on Thursday in Lahore for personal hearing.

The poor family said that Multan Development Authority had acquired their five kanal piece of agriculture land and seven marlah of house to establish Fatima Jinnah Town ten years before.

Muhammad Shabir said the family has been visiting MDA for the last ten years but the MDA authorities were reluctant to reimburse their payments or return their piece of land.

He said his parents protested in front of MDA offices and police officials harshly tortured his old parents for demanding compensation. The Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif took very quick notice on police torture and suspended DSP Hassan Raza Khakhi and SHO Chyllyak Ghulam Mustafa.

“The MDA has bought our land but never paid them the full amount. We are told that we should accept whatever amount we are given as we won to get a higher amount”, Shabir Sindhu said.

On the other hand, the Multan Development Authority Director Estate Management Musa Khan said the authority can not fulfill the demands of elderly couple because all of them were unlawful. He said the MDA was ready to pay the couple on resolution of dispute among beneficiary owners of land.

Musa Khan said the MDA had acquired 4-Kanal and 7-marlah pieces of land including 2-kanal owned by Nasim Bibi and 2-kanal by her father-in-law in 2008 to establish Fatima Jinnah Town.

The MDA had calculated payment for 4-kanal to worth Ra 10, 12000. The MDA had calculated compensation for house structure to worth Rs 400, 000.

Musa Khan said the elderly couple owned by piece of land of settlement but they could not produce settlement certificate of ownership. He said the couple was demanded payment according to current market value and excluding the 2-kanal piece of land from housing scheme, which was not possible for MDA due to lack of legal provision.
