ISLAMABAD: There had been credible reports of presence of miscreants in the sit-in, who have an intention to kill people, the interior minister said here on Thursday.
Speaking to media, Ahsan Iqbal said that now there was no dispute with regard to the law of finality of the Prophethood. The law had not been made secretly as representatives of religious parties were also part of the committee. Now the law of finality of the Prophethood is more effective and strong.
Practically speaking a few people had made millions of people hostage in the capital, Iqbal said.
We can vacate Faizabad through security forces but we have credible reports that there are some miscreants in the sit-in, who want bloodshed, the interior minister said.
We have been adopting a path of dialogue, he said and added that important announcements are expected over the next 24 hours.
Earlier on Wednesday, Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor had said that the army would act upon whatever decision the government takes on the ongoing Faizabad sit-in.
Maj General Ghafoor, however, said it is better to diffuse the situation through mutual understanding, adding that whatever decision the government takes in this regard would be acted upon.
