Top civil-military brass takes crucial decisions on Yadav case

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday chaired a high-level civil-military meeting at the PM House to review security situation of the country.

The top civil-military leadership took important decisions about Indian spy Kulhushan Jadhav case.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, DG ISI Lt. Gen Naveed Mukhtar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and others.

The meeting took stock of overall security situation in the country, regional issues, foreign policy and external challenges.

The meeting resolved that the process of fencing border with Afghanistan would be completed at all cost. Pakistan is a frontline state against terrorism as it had laid down numerous sacrifices.

The prime minister also informed the meeting on his recent meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Tajikistan.

The meeting also decided to directly raise the issue of restriction of non-interference with Afghanistan.

The policy to strengthen civil and military contacts with Afghanistan was reviewed.

It was decided to further strengthen the intelligence mechanism with Afghanistan.

The meeting voiced concern over Indian atrocities being committed in Occupied Kashmir and said the issue of RAW involvement in Pakistan would be discussed with friendly countries.

Another meeting of civil and military leadership would be convened next month, the meeting said.

The participants of the meeting also praised the sacrifices laid down by security forces in the country and added that no country had made such sacrifices for world security.

Pakistan would continue efforts to bring normalcy back in Afghanistan, the meeting decided.
