ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister and senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Firdous Ashiq Awan on Tuesday joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The PTI tweeted photos of Awan and her husband’s meeting with Jahangir Khan Tarin, confirming media speculations that she was likely to part ways with the PPP.

Three hours later, the PTI tweeted a couple of photos of her meeting with Imran Khan in Nathia Gali.

“Former federal minister and central PPP leader Firdous Ashiq Awan joins Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf,” read the tweet.

“Imran is the centre of nation’s hope. I will play my role to build new Pakistan,” she said after the meeting, expressing complete faith in party leadership and manifesto.

Hailing Awan’s decision to join the party, Imran Khan said Firdous Ashiq Awan’s inclusion will strengthen the party in Punjab.
