ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday expressed his anger over the Ministry of Water and Power’s failure to considerably reduce loadshedding duration in the country.
The prime minister was chairing a meeting of the Cabinet’s Committee on Energy here.
On the occasion, the secretary water and power briefed him on the demand and supply of power in the country.
Nawaz questioned that why the directions he had made in the previous meetings were not being implemented.
The prime minister was informed that 866MW had been added to the national grid during the month of April while 400 megawatts would be added next month.
He tasked the secretary water and power to identify those responsible for the failure.
On the occasion, the prime minister directed for constituting a committee to monitor power supply on hourly basis.
He also sought weekly reports on production, supply and distribution of power.
