Police to seek FIA’s help to verify Mashal Khan’s social media account

PESHAWAR: Police, investigating into the murder of Abdul Wali Khan University student, decided on Sunday to seek FIA’s help in verifying the social media account of Mashal Khan.

Earlier, the police had traced some ‘blasphemous comments’ on a facebook account created in the name of Mashal Khan.

However, sources said that the police voiced doubt over the authenticity of the account. They said that the data retrieved from the cell phone of Mashal Khan was being examined.

They added that CCTV footage and six mobile phones were being re-examined. FIR will also be registered against the suspects visible in the footage.

Police sources said that FIA’s assistance would also be sought to verify the social media account of Mashal Khan.

Meanwhile, police produced seven suspects booked in the Mashal Khan murder case in the court today. The court gave the suspects in police remand for one day while the other eight arrested suspects are currently in a four-day police remand.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday took suo moto notice of the murder of Mashal Khan by angry mob over alleged blasphemy.

The Chief Justice had ordered the Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to submit a report on the murder of Mashal Khan within 36 hours.
