ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Saturday there is no record available of remittances worth Rs103 billion in the country.
“There is no record of senders and receivers of this remittance,” the interior minister told a press conference here. He went on to say that the past government and some others were on the same on this issue. The interior minister said that banks were also involved in money laundering.
He said that Facebook’s vice-president will visit Pakistan next month for talks on the matter of blasphemous content on social media.
The interior minister also condemned the "cold-blooded murder" of Mashal Khan, a student of Abdul Wali Khan University, by a violent mob over alleged blasphemy.
He said that the name of Pakistani Origin Card had been changed to Temporary Residence Card. We have received complaints of misuse of Pakistani passports.
He said that we would review to re-issue the Pakistan Origin Card. Initially, the origin cards would be issued for five years.
Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) had been working here without permission for last 10 years, he added. A new procedure has been formed for the registration of NGOs. We have received 130 applications from NGOs for their registration, Nisar added.
He said that visa’s were granted like candies in the past. Now we are working on the Online Visa System in the country. Several measures had been taken over the past three-and-a-half-year to improve visa system in the country, the interior minister added.
“Now I can say for sure that no one can enter Pakistan without proper travel documents,” Nisar claimed. I always try to adopt a policy, which is in the larger national interest. We have permitted 62 NGOs to work following rules and procedures in the country.
He said that politics was being done on the issue of blocked NICs. He said that over 1,25,000 NICs were blocked excluding Pashto speaking people.
