Tripping of 250 feeders plunge major parts of Karachi into darkness
KARACHI: Major parts of Karachi plunged into darkness after more than 250 feeders of K-Electric tripped late on Thursday night.
Power supply to various areas was suspended despite additional supply of gas to power utility.
Clifton, Korangi, Defence, Liaquatabad, Azizabad, Shah Latif Town and others were badly affected owing to unannounced loadshedding.
Meanwhile, K-Electric in its post on twitter claimed the power shortfall was result of low gas pressure, the claim denied by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
It said, “Additional loadshedding is being carried out to manage shortfall. We are in contact with the authorities for an early resolution.”

The claim was rejected by SSGC spokesman, saying the supply of gas to K-Electric was increased by 20mmcfd two days ago. He added the SSGC is ensuring improved supply to the K-Electric during nightime.
The power producer is being provided a total of 160mmcfd gas, the spokesman added.
