India knows Pakistan has sufficient evidence against Kulbhushan: Abdul Basit
NEW DELHI: Pakistan has sufficient evidence of espionage and sabotage activities in Balochistan and Karachi against Indian agent Kulbhushan Jadhav.
This was stated by High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit in an interview with a Indian TV Channel ‘India Today’ on Wednesday night.
He defended the death sentence given to Kulbhushan Jadhav by a Field General Court Martial, saying he received a fair trial, the details of which could not be made public but the Indian government was aware of what we are talking about.
Abdul Basit said Pakistan has shared the evidence with Indian government as well. He said Kulbhushan has been given a fair trial and assured that he will be given the right to appeal or seek mercy.
“Jadhav was not an ordinary man. He was a serving officer, which is why he was tried in a military's court as so many other Pakistanis have been tried before”, Basit said.
The High Commissioner said the charges against Jadhav were such that he could not be tried in a civil court.
The High Commissioner to India said the Indian National has been visiting Pakistan since 2003 using an original Indian passport but with a fake name.
