SIALKOT: Indian security forces resorted to unprovoked firing in Harpal sector of Sialkot Working Boundary on Friday evening a day after COAS General Raheel Sharif visited the area.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Indian troops opened unprovoked firing which was responded by Pakistan Rangers in a befitting manner.
The ISPR said the firing was ongoing by the time of filing of the reports.
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened firing a day after Pakistan’s Army Chief General Raheel Sharif visited the Working Boundary in Sialkot and met troops as well as local residents.
On the occasion, the Army Chief said that repeated Indian cross border violations on the Working Boundary were meant as a distraction for Pakistan from the war against terrorism.
He went on to say that there should be no doubt that any provocation along the Working Boundary will be met with a befitting response.
India has been violating ceasefire at the Working Boundary and Line of Control (LoC) in the past several months.
