ISLAMABAD: Britain is hosting a trilateral meeting in London on Wednesday to discuss the border tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz and Afghan National Security Adviser Haneef Atmar will meet National Security Adviser of UK, Mark Lyall Grant to sort out the differences between the two neighboring countries.
Pakistan shut down Afghan border after series of terror incidents last month claimed lives of more than hundred people and injured scores others. The elements based there claimed the responsibility of terrorism inside Pakistan. The army chief had provided a list of 72 most wanted militants to Afghan ambassador and demanded they be arrest.
The closure affected thousands of travelers who move across the border but that did not stop attacks on army posts near Afghan border. Later, Pakistan re-opened the crossings on humanitarian grounds for two days.
The focus of Trilateral Security Conference is to discuss the security situation in the region and finding reliable solutions for the recent political tension, read a statement from Afghan NSA.
