LAHORE: The former Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) ticket holder Babar Sohail Butt was shot dead late on Sunday night near Lakhodair area of Manawan in Lahore, Geo News reported.
According to police, Babar's gunman could be involved in his assassination.
Gunman identified as Atif, allowed the assailants to enter into Babar's residence by opening the door, said police.
Babar had contested provincial assembly elections on PPPP ticket in 2013 general elections.
The body of the victim has been shifted to hospital for autopsy.
A large number of party workers and family members have reached outside the hospital.
Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, daughter of former president and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, in her tweet, expressed hope that an investigation is conducted into the murder and miscreants involved should be prosecuted.
