RAWALPINDI: The Corps Commanders  Conference on Thursday reviewed Geo-Strategic and security environment with special focus on internal security, Pak-Afg border situation and Indian cease fire violations along Line of Control and working boundary, said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The conference that was presided by Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also discussed “Dawn leaks” issue besides reviewing progress made by forces in the newly launched Operation Raddul Fassad and National Action Plan.

The forum, according to the ISPR, stressed the need to expedite implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) through the Raddul Fassad by respective stake holders for lasting peace and stability in the country.

COAS said that the Raddul Fasad was a comprehensive across the board operation against terrorists and terrorism and not against any particular race, sect or group.

While discussing 6th Housing and Population Census 2017, General Qamar Bajwa said the army would undertake the task as a national service.

According to the ISPR, the COAS also informed the participants of Corps Commanders  about discussion during last security conference with government authorities which included phased fencing of Pak-Afghan border, repatriation of Afghan Refugees, reforms in judicial system, police and madrassa,  educational institutions and restarting execution of death sentences to terrorists awarded by military courts.

“Forum expressed its confidence on performance of Military Courts. However, decision for reinstatement of Military Courts rests with the government. Dawn leak issue was also discussed,” said the statement.

The meeting concluded that hostile agencies were trying to undo Pakistan's gains in security and development especially CPEC, vowing that their design will be defeated.

The conference reiterated resolve of Pakistan Army to play its due role towards defence and security of the country.

The army commanders hailed performance of security forces including police, intelligence and other law enforcement agencies  for effective response to recent terrorist incidents and security arrangements for PSL final in Lahore.

The COAS also apprised the participants about his visits to UAE and Qatri leadership which remained successful in making positive progress, said the ISPR.
