Karachi operation will not be abandoned: PM Nawaz
KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stressed that the operation against criminal elements would not be abandoned in the city and would reach its logical conclusion.

KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stressed that the operation against criminal elements would not be abandoned in the city and would reach its logical conclusion.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 9th Expo Exhibition, Prime Minister Sharif said Karachi was once a peaceful city which had been cursed. “Karachi will once again become the city of lights.”
He added that the Karachi operation was launched with the consensus of all political parties. “The situation in Karachi is now better than it was a year and half ago…it will only continue to improve.”
The prime minister said he was hopeful Karachi would become a peaceful city by 2018.
The prime minister further said a decision had been take to ensure Pakistan became a peaceful country, emphasising that only state officials would bear arms. “No armed militia will be tolerated.”
“Armed militias and organisations spreading hatred within Pakistan will not be spared,” PM Sharif said.
