KARACHI: The key suspect in the Baldia factory fire case, Rehman Bhola, recorded his statement with Interpol on Tuesday in which he stated that he was a member of MQM and was the sector in-charge of Baldia Town.
According to details, Rehman Bhola, the main accused in the Baldia factory fire case, recorded his statement with Interpol on Tuesday, a copy of which was sent to the FIA. In his statement, he said that he was linked to MQM.
"I am a political worker who is linked to MQM," he said. "I was the sector in-charge of Baldia Town," he claimed.
The FIA has appointed two officers in Karachi who will cooperate with police regarding Rehman Bhola. The joint team of FIA and Karachi police will depart tomorrow for Thailand to bring home the suspect in two-three days, according to FIA sources.
Interpol had arrested Rehman Bhola on the request of Pakistan and subsequently handed him over to Bangkok police.
In the Baldia factory incident more than 250 deaths and scores of injuries had occurred when a factory had been set on fire four years ago.
The Thai police traced Rehman Bhola living in a five-star hotel in Bangkok’s up-market area and arrested him.
About 40 commandos raided the Royal Garden Home Hotel in Soi Nana yesterday evening and arrested Abdul Rehman alias Bhola, 46, who was staying alone in the room.
