ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court bench hearing Panama Leaks case has asked three questions from the Sharif Family lawyer.
During the proceedings, Justice Saeed Khosa raised three questions from the prime minister’s counsel about the companies owning London flats.
In his arguments, PM’s lawyer Salman Aslam Butt said the petitioners have failed to provide evidences that the companies were formed illegally. To this, Justice Khosa remarked that after accepting the ownership of companies, burden of proof lies upon you.
Earlier, Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali reprimanded the corruption watchdogs and remarked that if FBR and FIA were unable to perform their duties, why not close them.
A five-member bench headed by the chief justice, resumed the hearing of Panama Case in packed Court Room No. 1.
The CJ opined that all options are open, if we come to the conclusion that a commission is needed for a just probe, we will constitute one.
PTI lawyer, Naeem Bukhari, continued his arguments against the Sharif Family contention that they bought flats in 2006.
The Sharif Family pleaded the court to hear the case on day-to-day basis as it is a matter of utmost importance.
Speaking to the media before the hearing, Sheikh Rasheed said that the ruling party is nervous and submitting new documents every day.
PTI chairman Imran Khan said that he has reached the court to hear "what stories the liars have to tell".
The hearing was adjourned till tomorrow.
