Democracy can't flourish without local bodies: PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Monday said democracy could not flourish without well functional local bodies.  "Local bodies also served as nurseries for providing trained and well versed leadership at the provincial level and later at the national level," he said while chairing a meeting of the provincial leaders of PML N Punjab at the Prime Minister House.

The political leaders of PML N briefed the Prime Minister about the elections of mayors and deputy mayors after the local body elections in the province, a press release said.

The meeting was attended by Khawaja Muhammad Asif ,Ch Nisar Ali Khan,  Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Pervez Rashid, Dr Asif Kirmani, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and others
