Javed Khanani falls to his death from under construction building

KARACHI: Javed Khanani, the owner of Khanani and Kalia foreign exchange company, fell to his death from an under construction building on Sunday.  

SP Gulshan-e-Iqbal Dr. Fahad Ahmad Mukhtar stated that the death could have been caused by suicide, which was what the initial report pointed out. He also disclosed that the body had been transferred to Javed Khanani's house. The under-construction building was owned by the deceased, which is located at Muhammad Ali Society area in Karachi. 

Police further disclosed that Javed Khanani had died before reaching the hospital. Hospital sources claimed that Javed Khanani's death had been caused as a result of being electrocuted. According to Dr. Fahad Ahmad Mukhtar, SP Gulshan-e-Iqbal, workers at the time of the incident were having lunch when a blast of electricity was heard.

A partner was also present where the incident took place and Dr. Fahad Ahmad Mukhtar confirmed that police were carrying out an investigation into the matter and would also include Khanani's partners in the probe.  

Javed Khanani's family disclosed to the police that he had fallen from the eighth floor. Javed Khanani was among the four persons who were blacklisted in the United States on suspicion of being involved in money laundering. His companies were accused of laundering money for drug dealers. 

Obaid Khanani, Huzaifa Khanani and Atif polani were the other three persons who were blacklisted by the United States Treasury Department and their companies banned on suspicion of being involved in money laundering for drug dealers.
