KARACHI: Pakistan signed two agreements today at the IDEAS 2016, one with Turkey for supply of 52 Super Mushshak aircrafts and another one with Ukraine for up-gradation of Al-Khalid tanks.
Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) signed a deal with Turkey for supply of 52 Super Mushshak training aircrafts. These state-of-the-art training jets have been in high demand from various African and Middle Eastern nations.
The aircraft has a service ceiling of 22,000 feet, and a maximum speed of 268km/h. Range of the aircraft is reported at 814 kilometres.
Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) signed a MoU with Ukraine for the up-gradation of 200 Al-Khalid-1 tanks. Ukraine will provide engines for them.
Al-Khalid Main Battle Tank (MBT) is a result of joint venture between the HIT and China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO). It is powered by a Ukrainian 6TD-2 liquid-cooled diesel engine .
Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain was present during the signing ceremony. Talking to media, the minister said Ukraine defence industry is one of the most advanced in the world, which also produced battle tanks for the Russian army.
