WASHINGTON: The United States of America has strongly condemned suicide attack at the shrine of Shah Noorani in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan.
In a media briefing, Elizabeth Trudeau, Director, Press Office, said “US condemns in the strongest terms the attack on a Sufi shrine in Balochistan that killed 52 innocent worshippers and wounded over a hundred more.”
She also extended condolences to the victims and their families of the attack.
“We extend our condolences to the victims and their families. Attacks like this only deepen our shared resolve to defeat terrorism. We stand with the people of Pakistan at this difficult hour.”
US will continue to work with its partners in Pakistan and across the region to combat the threat of terrorism, she added.
Over 50 people, including women and children, were killed and over 100 wounded, some of them critically, in a massive explosion at the shrine of Shah Noorani in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan, some 200 kilometres north of Karachi on Saturday evening.
