ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif kicked off the shipment of trade goods from Gwadar Port to international markets on Sunday marking the historic launch of trade activity through China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The trade caravan reached Gwadar from China under the strict security cover of Pakistan Army and other security agencies that would now be shipped to its next export destinations.

Addressing the launching ceremony of the first mega pilot trade cargo, the premier said the dream of CPEC is now turning into reality and this marks the dawn of a new era for the regional development.

The enemies of the CPEC are actually enemies of Pakistan, PM Nawaz said. Every region and the province of Pakistan will benefit from the CPEC that is a comprehensive project of peace and economic progress, he maintained.

Commenting on the terror attack on a shrine in Khuzdar, he reiterated government’s resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country on priority basis. Those terrorists can not deter us from achieving lasting goals of peace and development, he said.

The PM said Pakistan was a proud partner of China and assured that his government would leave no stone unturned to complete all the development projects under the aegis of CPEC on time.

He said CPEC also manifested the desire of the leadership of two countries for shared prosperity through a broader and solid cooperation.

He also lauded the Chinese President for his vision of the regional prosperity.

The CPEC was the fusion of Chinese President’s concept of ‘belt and road’ project which came as integrating the trade and commerce activities of the various regional countries through enhanced connectivity, thus transforming Pakistan into major hub of trade and commerce, he added.

The prime minister said Pakistan enjoyed the unique geo-strategical location, standing at the crossroads of South Asia, China and the Central Asia, and changing fate of three billion people of the region and in future would serve as hub of a major trade zone.

Trade caravan:

Starting its journey from Kashghar on October 31st, the trade cargo reached Gwadar safely from Gilgit Baltistan after travelling nearly 3000 kms throughout the country on the Western Route of the corridor.

It also manifested the image of a peaceful Pakistan.
