ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Thursday that Pervez Khattak would be provided with more protocol than Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif, if he were to come in the capacity of a Chief Minister and not for any subversive activity.
Addressing the police and FC personnel who had been on duty during the PTI protest recent, at Police Lines Islamabad, Chaudhry Nisar said that the law enforcement officers had performed their duties diligently and now it was not possible for a small crowd of people to forcibly enforce their point of view on anyone.
During his speech, Chaudhry Nisar also defended the government's right to allow the Difa-e-Pakistan Council to conduct a rally in Islamabad at a time when section 144 had been imposed across Punjab.
Chaudhry Nisar said that 400 policemen and FC personnel had stopped a crowd of 8,000 protesters from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Pathar Garh.
A caravan of PTI workers led by CM Pervez Khattak had been targeted by police and FC personnel with tear gas shells. Police and FC personnel had attempted to disperse the crowd to prevent them from reaching PTI chief Imran Khan's Bani Gala residence.
Imran had called for a movement to shut down the federal capital on November 2, according to a plan which he referred to as the 'Islamabad Lockdown'. However, the cricketer-turned-politician called off the movement after the Supreme Court asked both the government and opposition to come up with their Terms of Reference for the formation of a commission which would investigate the Panamagate.
On Monday, the Supreme Court had decided that a one-man commission would be probing the findings of the Panamagate.
