ISLAMABAD: A man was killed and more than 20 female students of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) were injured after the university bus rammed into a footpath at the G-11 signal on Kashmir Highway here on Wednesday morning.
According to the initial report of the police and rescue officials, the ill-fated bus was carrying more than 50 students of IIUI that met the accident due to over speeding.
The Safe City Police spotted the accident on the cameras installed at the highway, following which traffic police and rescue teams reached the incident site and started rescue operation.
The senior police officials also reached the spot to supervise the rescue activities.
The bus also hit a motorbike rider namely Allao-ud-Din, who died on way to hospital.
An official of the IIUI said that more than 20 female students were injured in the mishap, who were in stable condition.
He said the accident took place due to brake failure caused.
The injured were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and they were discharged after initial treatment.
