ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf has postponed Islamabad’s lockdown plan after the Supreme Court order to form a commission to probe Panama Leaks issue and announced to observe Youm-e-Tashakur.
The PTI decided to shelve protests scheduled for Nov 2 after today’s hearing at the apex court, where the petitioners agreed to the formation of a judicial body to investigate the matter.
"On the Supreme Court´s advice, we have decided that tomorrow we will thank God and celebrate a day of thanks at (Islamabad´s) parade ground," Imran Khan told media, speaking outside his home in Islamabad.
Addressing a news conference, Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan said Tuesday's developments are victory of peace, democracy, rule of law and, trust in institutions.
He said these are neither victory nor defeat of any one. He welcomed Imran Khan's reaction to the Supreme Court proceedings and directives and said politicians behave like this.
The minister regretted that residents of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi as well as people in some areas of Punjab and KPK had to face difficulties due to political tension.
Referring to the PTI's complaints that the government created hurdles in the way of its plan for sit in, the interior minister said the government gave free hand to PTI to hold public meetings at F 9 Park.
However, he said, the government had to take measures when the party declared intention to lock down the federal capital.
