ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has appointed Maryam Aurangzeb as State Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
The formal notification for Maryam Aurangzeb appointment will be issued shortly.
She was elected as MNA on the reserved seats for women in 2013 general elections.
Earlier there was reports that the federal government is expected to appoint Senator Mushahidullah Khan as Minister for Information and Broadcasting after Pervaiz Rashid was directed to step down over leaked report of a high level security meeting.
The government had directed Minister Pervaiz Rashid to step down for an independent and detailed inquiry.
An inquiry committee has been formed to probe the planted news story, terming it as a breach of national security.
