Senator Mushahidullah Khan likely to be new Information Minister
ISLAMABAD: The federal government is expected to appoint Senator Mushahidullah Khan as Minister for Information and Broadcasting after Pervaiz Rashid was directed to step down over leaked report of a high level security meeting.
Sources said Monday, Mushahidullah Khan is currently in Japan on a 10-day visit. He has been ordered to return to the country immediately.
The government had directed Minister Pervaiz Rashid to step down for an independent and detailed inquiry.
An inquiry committee has been formed to probe the planted news story, terming it as a breach of national security.
Sources add that Senator Mushahidullah was to undergo medical checkups in Japan, however, he has cancelled his appointments and has already departed following the orders.
Senator Mushahid ullah has in the past served as Federal Minister for Climate Change.
